Penistone Toilets to be refurbished into new modern facility!

Whilst many Public toilets across Barnsley are to close from April 1 to allow Barnsley Council to save £40k in response to spending cutbacks required by the government.

Penistone Town Council have decided that having a public toilet is vital to provide a facility for tourists and walkers. So Penistone’s toilets have been transferred to the Town Council and in the next year they will be converted to a single pay-on-entry Unisex toilet. Should funds allow, then there could be the potential for a second toilet, should there be a need.

The toilets will be properly maintained, with nearby CCTV to prevent vandalism. It should enhance our tourism offering.
