At last we will be seeing some much needed road resurfacing carried out on two sections of the A628 road through the Penistone area.
Currently planned to be carried out during April and May (to ensure the roads are completed prior to Le Grand Depart, the work will be done between the Hoylandswaine roundabout and the railway arch east of Penistone and somewhere between the sports centre and the Huntsman pub in Thurlstone.
A temporary 30mph speed limit will be imposed throughout the works.
In addition, the road between Hoylandswaine and Huddersfield Road will be closed for two days during the work, with diversions via Halifax Road and Huddersfield Road.
The Thurlstone section will mean separate two-day closures of the junctions with Towngate, High Bank and Hedge Hill Road, with the Towngate closure on a Sundays only.
Exact dates for the work are still to be decided.
Meanwhile closures are announced on the Trans-Pennine Trail to allow resurfacing between Dunford Bridge and Bullhouse. Work is likely to take three months.
